Summer Night at Mildenstein
Guests enjoy a musical expedition during summer night at Castle Mildenstein in Leisnig. Kids of the Kreismusikschule Döbeln (music school) play music and friendly ladies-in-waiting serve a welcome drink. When the last sunbeams adorn the castle tower and the trumpet signal rings out at 8.00 pm, the night of entertainment, music and dance will start.
The courtyard and many premises let guests discover arts in a various ways. The musical offer of this night is very large scaled. The "Danced Serenades" of the National Theatre of Saxony presented in a baroque ambience is just one of the highlights - classical music combined with bouncy dances performed by a ballet company. Imaginative dresses, rousing music and an ingenious choreography guarantee a night for simply having a great time.
The celebration ends with fireworks at about midnight.
Philharmonic Rock
Kloster Buch (monastery Buch) is a large stage with a turbulent history. In a August night it becomes a stage for an unique musical event - Philharmonic Rock, an exceptional show with for performing international hits of rock, pop and musical by classical instruments.
The first show was in 1999. Since then, the show tempts more guests year by year. The performances are held within the monastery walls of Buch near Leisnig. Philharmonic Rock takes place in front of impressing scenery. From the start, Philharmonic Rock should be set apart from common concerts - a combination for eyes and ears. Because of the unity of music and dance there is also a dancing group performing besides the lightshow.
Philharmonic Rock tries to reach people from an age of 14 to an age of 75. Therefore, the show includes classical elements, too, and exhausts the entire musical scope in an unusual night.
Castle and Old town festivities
The castle and old town festivities take place in August every year for two days. It smells of molten wax, sheep's wool, and moist leather. Merchants recommend their goods; other ones sit on a wooden stool and go about one's work silently. Some loafs bake in an oven. From another direction, it smells of roasted and fried meat. A market day as it was in Middle Ages - Leisnig let the long forgotten time revive. Our guests make a journey through the historical centre of a town where culture isn't just an empty word.
The past of Leisnig is cranky, funny and curious - it's worth not to fall into oblivion. Comedians of Leisnig's carnival club take care of it and bring the history of Leisnig upon stage near the church. The Poetenstube (poet room) of Miskus supplies the pattern and provides the settings. Everybody can feel history in every street - town guards, Stiefelwacht (guards of Leisnig's giant boot), historical market, music, tumbler, and a lot of fun and entertainment wait for the guests.
